The Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) has a mandate to promote energy efficiency, energy conservation and the development and use of alternative sources of energy. GEA’s functions include policy formulation and recommendations, research and development and public awareness. In addition, GEA is responsible for granting and issuing licences relating to petroleum and petroleum products, including import licences, wholesale licences, and retail licences. GEA also manages the Fuel Marking Programme to identify legitimately imported petroleum and petroleum products.
