Dr. Mahender Sharma has been actively involved in the energy sector for more than two decades in the areas of solar power, hydroelectricity, wind energy, bio-energy and energy efficiency.
Dr. Sharma has served as served as a Director on the Board of the Environmental Protection Agency and Chaired the Board of President’s College. He is currently serving as a Director on the Board of the Guyana Power and Light, Inc. and the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE).
He represents Guyana as the National Focal Point for the International Solar Alliance and the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLADE).
Additionally, he also has a Doctor of Management in Organization Leadership from the University of Phoenix, a Masters of Science in Energy and Environment from the University of Calgary and a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Guyana.
