Senior Petroleum Coordinator - Ministry of Natural Resources

G. Bobby Gossai, Jr. serves as the Senior Petroleum Coordinator for the Ministry of Natural Resources. He plays a pivotal role in aiding the formulation and execution of Guyana's governmental objectives, particularly within its petroleum management programme designed to bolster the economy.


Bobby is currently working towards a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, UK. He recently did his viva on "Navigating Strategic Fiscal Challenges and Economic Policy Frameworks for Emerging Petroleum Economies in a Volatile Price Environment: An Integrated Case Study Analysis of Guyana.". An esteemed Chevening Scholar, he obtained his MSc (Econ) in Petroleum, Energy Economics, and Finance from the same University, with a focal study on "Fiscal Regimes and Revenue Management for New Oil Producing Countries: An Economic Model for Guyana".


In addition, Bobby holds an MSc in Economics from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. His dissertation there delved into the "Vulnerability to Sea Level Rise in an Urban Centre of a Developing Country: A Case Study of Georgetown, Guyana". He also possesses a BSc in Economics and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Development Studies, both from the University of Guyana.


Professionally, Mr. Gossai, Jr. has donned several leadership hats. He headed the Guyana Oil and Gas Association and served as the Senior Policy Analyst and Advisor for both the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture in Guyana. He embarked on his career as a National Accounts Statistician at the Bureau of Statistics and subsequently held the position of Economist at the National Competitiveness Strategy Unit within the Ministry of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce.
