Mr Vivian Lam, a proud native of the East Coast of Demerara, Region Four, brings a plethora of experience and diverse skillset to his role at Ministry of Natural Resources. A graduate of La Bonne Intention Secondary School, Mr Lam is a member of Member of the Association of Accounting Technician (MAAT) of United Kingdom and holds a Master’s Degree in Oil and Gas Management from the University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom.


Mr Lam is also a PhD final year student at the Texeila American University of Tamil Nadu, India while being a practice Accountant. His academic and professional journey has shaped his deep understanding of management and governance in the public and private sectors, with strategic leadership abilities.


Mr Lam’s career spans over thirty years as an educator, mentor, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Lam and Associates, a prominent Accounting and Tax Firm, while building a career of public service. His capability as an educator and mentor, his ability to connect with and inspire young minds have instilled in him valuable skills, such as patience and active listening—qualities he leverages in his daily schedule to work and build a culture of integrity among his peers.


His professional journey began in public service, where he served as an Accounts Clerk at Guyana Stores. He later shifted to Internal Auditing and Public Accounting for large companies. Mr Lam served as the Head of Procurement at the Guyana Sugar Corporation and is presently serving as a Technical Officer – Audit at the Ministry of Natural Resources of Guyana.


He also taught at Secondary and Tertiary levels and mentored at the master’s successful students. At the community level, Mr Vivian Lam served as Parents Teachers Chaiman for Leonora Primary, also as a Trustee in the management of the Vishwa Jyoti Mandir at Crane West Coast Demerara.


Beyond his professional commitments, Mr Lam is a devoted family man who is married and has two children. He has a deep-rooted passion for Guyana’s progress prosperous and productive future.
