Mohammed Ashour is the Co-founder and Chairman of Aspire, a global technology pioneer in insect agriculture with over US$100M in projects globally. Mohammed founded Aspire in 2013 after leading a team to defeat over 10,000 businesses from around the world to win the prestigious US$1mm HultPrize (dubbed the “Nobel Prize for Business”).


Mohammed is a leading voice in social enterprise and innovation entrepreneurship. He has been featured in leading publications including The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Forbes, the Economist, Bloomberg and Fast Company.


Mohammed is a member of the Business Council of Canada’s Next Generation of Business Leaders. He participates in the full scope of activities with Council members, composed of the chief executives and entrepreneurs of over 170 leading Canadian companies.


A former Forbes 30 under 30 honoree, Mohammed is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award. He was recently named to MacLean’s Magazine’s 2023 Power List as one of 100 Canadians who are shaping the country.


Mohammed pursued a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery (MD- CM) degree from McGill University. He holds M.B.A. and M.Sc. (neuroscience) degrees from McGill University and a B.Sc. degree in Life Sciences from the University of Toronto.
