Martin Cheong is the Country General Manager for SBM Offshore in Guyana, where he leads the company’s strategic operations and local content agenda. Appointed to the role in 2022, Martin is the first Guyanese national to hold this position, reflecting SBM Offshore’s commitment to national leadership and sustainable local development.

A results-driven executive with over 15 years of progressive experience across finance, compliance, and corporate services, Martin brings a strong track record in operational leadership, stakeholder engagement, and organizational growth. Prior to assuming his current role, he held various leadership positions at SBM Offshore, both in-country and internationally, including assignments in Brazil and the Netherlands. He was previously engaged in senior finance and support functions at Scotiabank Guyana and the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT).

Martin holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Guyana and an Executive MBA from the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business.

Under his leadership, SBM Offshore Guyana has significantly advanced its local workforce development and capacity-building initiatives, including education and youth empowerment programmes. He is a strong advocate for inclusion, national growth, and sustainable growth within the local energy sector.
