Senior Director of Climate and Redd+ at the Ministry of Natural Resources in Guyana

Dr. Bholanauth is an Environmental Economist who is currently the Senior Director for Climate and REDD+ at the Ministry of Natural Resources in Guyana. She previously worked as Programme Coordinator for the 11th European Development Fund at the CARICOM Secretariat and as Head of Planning and Development at the Guyana Forestry Commission.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Guyana, a Master’s of Science Degree in Environmental Economics from the University of York, UK, and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School, UK.
She has knowledge and experience at the senior management level in areas of project management, sustainable development, trade and economic growth, community and social development, Low Carbon Development, and climate policy and financing. Her work has afforded her significant exposure to project design, implementation and management at several international levels.
She has actively participated in various efforts centred on fostering international collaboration with Inter-Governmental, International and Civil Society partners in various development programmes. Her involvement has encompassed aspects relating to developing and managing these programmes and developing synergies among social, economic and environmental aspects.
In supporting this work, she has executed core activities as project coordinator in identifying new projects, securing financing and overseeing the implementation of project programmes ensuring close collaboration with Government policy and key involvement of non-government and civil society partners. She has enjoyed a close working relationship with Governmental, non-governmental and the private sector.
