Alison Redford, is King’s Counsel attorney with over 30 years of experience in international policy, national security, and sustainable energy development. She has held prominent leadership roles across government, multilateral organizations, and the private sector, demonstrating expertise in governance, regulatory reform, and energy transition.


As the first woman Premier of Alberta (2011–2014), Alison oversaw the province’s legislative, policy, and financial operations, including international trade, environmental sustainability, and renewable energy strategies. She led the development of the Canadian Energy Strategy, focusing on transitioning to a low-carbon economy and enhancing energy infrastructure. Her tenure also included establishing the Alberta Energy Regulator and managing Alberta’s sovereign wealth fund.


Alison’s global experience includes advising governments and multilateral agencies such as the World Bank, UNDP, and Global Affairs Canada on extractive sector reform, sustainable energy regulation, and governance. She has worked extensively in emerging energy economies including, the Solomon Islands, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Southern Africa, contributing to mining transparency, LNG production, and democratic reform. She has been an advisor to the Government of Guyana on several offshore projects. Her legal expertise spans constitutional litigation, judicial training, and public policy roles, including serving in the Office of the Canadian Prime Minister and Secretary of State for External Affairs.
Currently, Alison is Principal Consultant at The Redford Group, where she recruits and manages international teams for sustainable energy projects. She also serves as an Independent Board Member for Gran Tierra Energy, contributing to finance, governance and ESG audits.


Alison holds a Master of Arts in South Asian Energy Infrastructure and Security from the University of London and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan. She is recognized for her leadership and contributions to Indigenous rights in Canada and was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for public leadership and community service.
