RABIN CHANDARPAL

DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER, GUYANA SHOREBASE INC

A Civil Engineer by profession, Rabin Chandarpal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Guyana and a Master of Science Degree in Construction Management from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. with. He is currently employed at the Guyana Shore Base Inc (GYSBI) as the Deputy General Manager. GYSBI is a local company that provides and operates the onshore logistics shore base for Exxon Mobil’s oil exploration and development projects in Guyana. Throughout his career at GYSBI, Rabin has held several positions including Infrastructure Manager, Government Liaison and Local Content and Permitting Manager. Prior to the establishment of GYSBI, he served as the Port Development and Operations Manager for Muneshwers’ Limited, with responsibility for the construction of the facility now operated as GYSBI’s shorebase. The majority of Rabin’s career had been spent at the Ministry of Public Works in capacities ranging from Design Engineer, Chief Transport Planning Officer and Manager of Technical Services, where he has gained comprehensive knowledge and experience in planning, designing, procurement and project execution across a wide scope of infrastructural works. His diverse portfolio includes Programme Management for various, large donor-funded loans and grants; Project Management for various infrastructure projects most notably the Design Projects for the East Bank Demerara Four Lane Expansion (Providence to Diamond), Design Project for the East Coast Demerara Road Expansion Project (Better Hope to Belfield), and Design Project for the Sherriff Street Road Improvement Project; lead technical representative for the Ministry on various National bodies and committees; and has represented Guyana at several levels, most notably as a member of the Guyana – Suriname Border Commission.
